Defne and her crew are awesome! I just moved into a 2500+ square foot house that had been vacant for a few months and desperately needed a clean. I reached out to Defne via e-mail and she had a general quote and a date for me within 24 hours. A crew of three incredibly thorough and hard working ladies came out to my house and within two hours, the place was cleaner than I ever could have gotten it!
Needless to say, I asked Defne to get me on the schedule every two weeks.

We used The Cleaning Company for several months, although they do a wonderful job cleaning and we don't have any complaints about that, we ended up cancelling for several reasons. Primarily, we kept running into issues with their cleanings damaging our home. They would unplug things that didn't need to be unplugged and damage electronics plugging them back in, they also may have damaged our electrical sockets by incorrectly plugging back in a plastic socket plug. They further damaged several photos on our fridge, and dented our walls with their vacuum. So while their work was very good, we couldn't continue working with them. I think part of the problem is that they are trying to do everything very quickly, so even when they would dust our blinds I was worried they would rip them off the windows with how firmly they were dusting them.

I have been using the Cleaning Company for over a year and they have been amazing! The crew is careful with my delicate objects and antiques. The ladies (sometimes different crew comes but all have been tops) are very thorough, pleasant and on time. If I could give Defne and her crew more than 5 stars I would. We hired Defne and her team for a move out clean of our apartment. They did a phenomenal job. It was worth every last penny. Our apartment was absolutely spotless. Not a speck of dirt, dust or grim anywhere. Nooks and Crannies…. you can do better. And I hope for everyone out there that doesn't have a pristine house you take a minute to read this review.
I love, love, love my cleaning crew that comes every 2 weeks (NOT nooks and crannies). They've been with me for years and I'm so thankful for them. But, unfortunately, it snowed and snowed last week and they couldn't make it and then they got the flu. In desperation, I called Nooks and Crannies to just maintain the house. I did a last minute booking and got 20% off. I had used them before, and they were okay, they were not to the level of my current cleaning crew, but I figured anything was better than nothing.
They booked me from 4:45 pm – 7 pm. They showed up at 4:55 pm and they danced around my driveway and chatted. I don't care…. please, play, and joke. They didn't come into my house until after 5 pm. I had made sure to make all the beds, do all the dishes, clean all the counters, clear all the floors, etc. They arrived and I took the family out to dinner so we were out of their way.
We came home around 6:40 pm and they were walking out the door (so they cleaned from 5ish to 6:40 out the door). They didn't dust or vacuum the bedrooms. (They were booked until 7 pm) they also didn't vacuum the carpet in the foyer. I went upstairs and did most of the dusting and vacuuming in the bedrooms in 30 minutes BY MYSELF. If the team had wanted to finish they could have. It's cool. I'm sure they were tired.
HOWEVER, when I get a bill for 2 hours I get a little annoyed. It's $140 an hour. I am happy to pay and to tip on service rendered but when you didn't work the full 2 hours …. no, just no. Additionally, my husband shared with me that he overheard them arguing about the number of hours they were getting paid for in my foyer. (I guess that's what they were doing vs vacuuming the foyer rug).
I emailed them manager back and inquire about why I was billed for 2 hours when they didn't work 2 hours. She responded that her crew worked "really hard" because my house was "quite dirty" IF my house was "quite dirty" why would they leave 20 minutes early?!
Look. I will admit when my house is "quite dirty" but I had busted my butt this week to ensure it wasn't dirty. In fact, neighbors had come in and commented "wow your house is really clean."
Is this how Nooks and Crannies keeps their clients? If you're in Cville just avoid this cleaning service….. super grumpy about this tonight and thankful for my regular cleaning crew.
If you have pets, kids, you know, show any wear and tear and actually LIVE in your house prepare to be judged by this cleaning service. I don't know about you, but I work hard both professionally and domestically, and I don't need this negativity in my life. And I had the honor of paying a pretty penny for it, too.

I have had them cleaning my house now for a few months, and I have to say they do an amazing job.
My house has never been cleaner and I am so completely thrilled with the quality and care that these ladies take in cleaning my home. If you leave dishes in the sink, they wash them…my bathroom has never been cleaner and there's no dust.
I have two cats and a dog, and with a request (and small fee) they wash the walls too…I have never been happier with their service.
They are also amazingly responsive on email and the phone. And customer service is important to them.

I am thoroughly disgusted with how I was treated by Nooks and Crannies. I do not recommend them any longer as a service, because of how they treat their customers.
I had an appointment today at 2pm. At 2:05 I called to get an update on where the team was as they are usually punctual. Ms Kim informed me that the team had been at my house for 30 min waiting and had left. I received no call, text, or knock at the door. Ms Kim also informed me I needed to be more flexible with scheduling. How can I be more flexible if no one communicates with me that they are 30 min early?
Ms Kim then went on to question whether I was telling the truth about being contacted by the team. Why would I lie? I have been using their services for weeks and have always received a text or call saying the team was outside. (Because we have dogs, I had asked them to text when they arrived so we could put the dogs out back.)
Because of the clear lack of customer respect and inconvenience (they can't clean today), we will no longer be using their services.

I've used this cleaning service for a couple of years now and am happy with their service and dependability. Once the electric power went off before they were done the cleaning. They finished mopping the wood floors and came back the next day to vacuum rugs. And they are mindful of my cat who supervises their work, especially the feather duster activity.

These ladies saved my day. They were friendly and super accommodating. In terms of cleaning, the are quick and efficient. They did a good job, for sure. But if you are looking for a serious deep clean, you are going to have to go in after them. For me, they got me to a solid starting point for me to get after it before my household goods arrived to the new house. So leftvfor me. We're little ( but important) things like the ceiling fan blades and blinds. I'd call them again, for sure.

Absolutely fabulous cleaning service in Charlottesville.
I have been using Nooks & Crannies for the past year while living in the area. Kim is extremely professional to deal with (responds to emails and/or phone calls quickly) and has been accommodating when I need to reschedule.
Their pricing is straightforward and reasonable. I believe that the same individuals have come to clean each time and even if not, the cleanings have been consistent if not improved month over month. They also clean everything…mirrors, window sills, hardwoods, vacuum furniture, etc. On occasion when the pollen was bad, I'd leave a note asking them to really dust – the cleaners would go above and beyond.
Will miss Nooks & Crannies when I move in a month.

I hired Nooks & Crannies for a last minute move-out cleaning of my two story, 700 sqft, hardwood apartment. They fit me in for a next day cleaning, gave me a very reasonable estimate on the phone, gave me a solid price once they arrived at the apartment ($90) that was within the estimate, and finished in less than 2 hours.
They cleaned a super dirty stove, oven, fridge, and bathtub/shower, as well as the more normal cleaning of floors and such. Things were very clean (not 100% spotless), faucets were sparkling, and everything smelled good (no bleach/chemical smells). Passed the apartment inspection with flying colors.
Convenient payment options of check or Paypal after the job is done and you're satisfied.
I may never do an apartment cleaning myself again, if it can always be this smooth, painless, and affordable.

I had Nooks & Crannies clean my home a year ago. I was satisfied with the job the two ladies did. What I was extremely disappointed with is something that was very dear to me, a gift for my 70th birthday from my 80 yr old friend was missing. I know exactly where it was left. I even tore the house apart just in case it was misplaced. I'm a creature of habit and always return items to its place.
Because of this incident I hesitate to hire another crew to come into my home. Sorry, but, it is what it is.

I emailed Kim to get a pre-Christmas cleaning and to my surprise, she was able to fit me in the next day. This was my first time having someone else clean my house…I think I could get used to it. I did as much "pre-cleaning" and decluttering as I could so they could get down to the nitty gritty, and they did. They cleaned yesterday and it was so nice waking up this morning to a CLEAN house. It really changes the energy and just feels good. I also love that the smell of bleach doesn't smack you in the face.

This was my first experience with True Clean of Virginia!
George was right on time and was ready to work. I walked around my house with him to point out my problem areas. One side of my house was full of mold.
He did a comprehensive cleaning of my home. I wish I had taken a photo of the before, but take my word for it; he did a fantastic job.
He did such a good job that one of my neighbors asked to have their home done when he completed mine.

I had been putting off getting my upstairs carpets cleaned because I work full-time, but quarantine gave me some time to get household needs done. I found George through Angie's list and Yelp and decided to give him a shot. He came out the next day and was in and out in no time, leaving behind what looked like brand new rugs! He is very professional and the nicest guy around. I will definitely hire him again and highly recommend him. He also does pressure washing and other things, so may have him come and do my deck too.
In this day and age, it's nice to still find trustworthy people who stand behind their work. George is that guy. Don't hesitate to give him a call. You won't be disappointed!

We had an excellent experience with George. Our carpets are in excellent condition but there were two high traffic areas: one near the couch and one in the office. The office had the additional challenge of soot from years of candle burning (don't do that folks) that became obvious when we moved the furniture. Nothing major but visible darkening in a few spots that look like light shadows. Anyway, George did an excellent job covering those areas. The wear and tear near the carpet is more than discoloration so there will still be some visible difference if you look closely Bc of the carpet itself. But the spot area looked pretty darned good! He can't get carpet to fluff back up where you've had furniture for 15 years but that's not what he does so just be aware. Also for first timers– he has a 10% off coupon (I didn't see it until answering questions before starting this review). Prices: George was very reasonable. There were other companies that say they do a Covid- type level cleaning but they charge twice as much. Some gave lower estimates but then charge 2-3.50 PER STAIR which adds up quickly. We had approx 1000 ft or so of carpeted area (3 br, a very small hallway, a living room and 2 stair cases) in a 1500 sq ft townhouse. I was pleased with the price and the result. Scheduling: George was very accommodating and he updated us when running a little LTR well before he was scheduled to arrive. At least an hour's notice. He was still reasonably on time. I would hire again!

Although I initially gave this company a 5-star review, I unfortunately feel compelled to edit my first post after closer inspection and some hours of personal cleaning.
The walls of the kitchen were not cleaned- I wiped the walls down myself and what stains were present came out quite easily. In addition, the top of my stove hood was not wiped down nor was the top of the refrigerator. The stove itself wasn't very clean, and I spend the last few hours going over the kitchen and cleaning walls and surfaces myself. The stove burners/drip pans and dishwasher were also untouched– I'm unsure if cleaning this area is part of a typical move-out cleaning, but my move out contract clearly did state that the switch plates need to be cleaned and I left a copy at my apartment for her to reference (and I texted her to let her know it was there).
There were also small stains behind my bedroom door and bathroom that were easily removed, so I'm not quite sure why these were still present. The bathroom sink was also not very clean. I don't want to make assumptions, but I feel that areas that were clearly the most difficult to clean were left untouched.
All in all, the general apartment was cleaned decently but had I not inspected everything more closely, I think I would've been charged by my apartment for failing to clean certain areas. I'm still giving them 3-stars because communication was easy, and the apartment is definitely a lot cleaner than I had left it. However, if I'm paying a considerable amount of money for a service (especially as a graduate student!), I really do expect to get my money's worth out of said service.

He even went above and beyond the scope of work by helping me coordinate contractors to pick up where his team left off. He stayed in contact with me until the job was complete. Not sure what all the complaints are about, but knowing what this kind of company is like, I know how much people can complain about stuff they just don't understand. Though Bobby can be a little bit of a hustler at times, he'll work with you and do whatever he can to make things right. Just talk to him! People need to learn to haggle too! They sent two techs to clean an antique couch and a rug, got a great deal on it. Great job, couldn't be happier. Nice guys too.

Needed a carpet cleaning of my apartment done and agreed on a price with an employee over the phone. The crew got there and recommended a "deep clean" to me in passing, not mentioning that it would be over $100 more than what I agreed to. I contested the invoice and tried to contact the manager repeatedly and only received an irritated voice mail and nothing further. You'd do [much] better to look elsewhere.

Bobby and his crew are top notch. The clean all my rental properties. These carpets take a beating and I had trouble finding a company that could really get them clean. I just hired Merry Maids for a "Move Out" Cleaning. I hired them last minute as my regular person had just undergone surgery and was still recuperating.
A Merry Maids manager, Patsy, came to my house immediately and went over everything with me and gave me a price quote. They called me the day before they were coming which was a wonderful reminder for me.
On the day of the cleaning I was extremely busy and really wasn't around but I checked in on them once and they (Samantha and Cherish) were so sweet and polite. I must've asked their names several times and I hope I got them right; Cherish and Samantha! They honestly were really hard-working, polite and extremely professional young ladies. I came back later right as they were finishing up and they had done a fantastic job but were concerned about two little spots in my refrigerator they couldn't get clean! I was amazed at how thorough they were and honestly I couldn't even notice the spots they were talking about! These girls worked really hard to get my house clean & spotless so that it would look beautiful for the final inspection before going to "closing".
I will definitely be using them again in my new place.
The ladies, Patsy, Samantha and Cherish were all very sweet, professional, honest and reliable. I definitely felt that they were worth every penny.

I scheduled a cleaning with merry maids, and they told me it would be $180 for a 'deep cleaning.' They were early, and the two women were very nice, but they were at my apartment for less than 1 hour, which seems kind of outrageous for the price. They did an adequate job, but I did a lot of cleaning after they left because they weren't particularly thorough. It certainly wasn't a deep cleaning. They didn't wash the windows or wipe the windowsills/baseboards, and I needed to vacuum and wash the floors again. As they were leaving I mentioned how fast they were, and one lady said 'well it was easy because your apartment was already clean' so I thought maybe they would end up charging me less than the full $180, but that wasn't the case. I will not use again.

I like that Merry Maids can be trusted to clean our home to our standards even when we aren't home to monitor their work. I also like that I can request that certain products not be used in my home and that my request will be honored. There have been times when the schedule had to be changed due to vacations and accommodations were made cheerfully.

Recently relocated to the area and had them do move-in cleaning. Worked performed was inadequate at best; many rooms barely touched or not at all. Called to make them aware of the issues and offered to come back to clean the untouched areas – told them it was too late as we had to re-clean ourselves prior to the movers arriving the next day. Then offered another cleaning at 50% off. I countered that they should come back and clean the house at no charge. They were to check with the owner and advise. That was 4 weeks ago and still no response. I have used their services in other cities without incident, but not after this experience.

I just saw an online ad from Merry Maids saying "We don't cut corners" and it made me so mad that I had to join Yelp. Three weeks ago I paid this company $125 for a cleaning. Two workers stayed less than an hour, and did not complete the job, the detials of which had been specifically requested with the coordinator who came out to the house to preview and give an estimate. I called and spoke with Melissa, the office manager, then called back the following week and spoke with the owner, Joel – each of whom said they would follow up and get the cleaning completed. Now it's a week after the latest phone call, and – nothing. Cut corners is exactly what they DO.

My wife and I were moving and needed a move out cleaning done and so we called merry maids. You have to make an appointment to get an estimate and so we did. They did well with communicating when they were going to be late and so we rescheduled the appointment which was fine. The Assistant Manager ended up conducting the estimate and my wife made an appointment with her for the cleaning about a month in the future. I had to fly in for the weekend to complete my move out and on the appointment day I waited and waited and waited some more (they could not give me a specific time for when the cleaning would begin ???) So when I called to see where they were at I talked to the same Assistant Manager that made the appointment and was told "no we don't have an appointment for you." I explained that she herself actually made the appointment so yes, you did make an appointment for us. I said I needed the cleaning done within the next 24 hours as I was only in town for the two days and was counting on my appointment being guaranteed. The Assistant Manager said "sorry, I can't accommodate you." Well, if this is the Assistant Manager's attitude then I'm worried what all the employee's attitudes are like. Very poor customer service.

Central Virginia Cleaners Honest Reviews
Crystal and her crew did excellent work on our two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. It looked better than when we moved in and smelled lovely when I came home. The only bummer was that they accidentally broke one of our drinking glasses. I know it was an accident, but it was a bit disappointing. That's really the only negative thing I have to say. The apartment is spotless.
