Where do I begin. The bad rating isn't a reflection of the HomeFresh support system, which really tried their best. I don't know if I was just unlucky or if this is a recurring problem for others. Anyway this is my story.

I found HomeFresh online after sending my helper home. Having just had my 2nd child, I needed someone to help with general cleaning so I could concentrate on taking care of my kids.

The initial contact was great. Very prompt response. My queries answered within minutes. I had high hopes. Reviews were good. I booked a recurring twice weekly session, 9am-12noon.

First session. Cleaner was 55 minutes late. FIFTY FIVE MINUTES. If I wanted my cleaning session to start at 10 I would have booked for it to start at 10. Not only was she late, she was uncontactable. I messaged and called the helpline multiple times. I was told that she is "already in the building". FOR HALF AN HOUR I WAS TOLD SHE WAS ALREADY IN THE BUILDING. Now this was made even worse because my baby was getting hungry and I had to let her in and show her where things were before feeding him. HALF AN HOUR of trying to console my crying infant because "she's already in the building". New mothers can understand how distressing that is.

I requested for a change in cleaner for my next session because I just could not face this lady who made my baby cry in hunger for half an hour again.

2nd cleaner was THE BEST. Hence the one star. She was on time, and she was full of initiative. Five stars for her. Unfortunately she was not designated as my permanent cleaner. So the company assigned me my new permanent cleaner. #3.

So cleaner #3 was ok. Not as good as #2 but she was alright. She did 3 session for me. However for one of the sessions, she decided to take the bus instead of the train and TOOK THE WRONG BUS and ended up over a hour late. However she did have the decency to call me to apologise and worked the full 3 hours. It was extremely inconvenient tho because I had to wait that extra hour and had to rearrange some of the things I needed to do.

So then #3 needed to go home urgently and I was informed of this the day before another session. New cleaner. Can't be helped. I was given the name and number of #4. Ok fine. I just need to orientate someone new AGAIN.

Next day. 915am. No one is here yet. I call #4 thinking she got lost or missed the bus or something. Guess what? This was the conversation.
"Hello Ms X? Are you on your way to come clean?"
"Who is this? Where you calling from?"

Needless to say. I was furious. Called helpline and gave the poor guy a huge yelling. How can their cleaner NOT KNOW she has a job?he said it's in the system. I said it doesn't matter if it's in the system because SHE DOESN'T KNOW.

So. Summary. 6 sessions. 4 cleaners. 2x 1 hour late. 1x no show.
I have cancelled my account with them for obvious reasons.

I found them on the internet, but didn't know that they had such good ratings intially. The lady who came worked tirelessly and was not afraid to get down and dirty. My house had a sofa full of silverfish, a wardrobe with god knows how many roach eggs and other pests, but she helped us clean them all with not a word of complaint nor expressions of disgust or discontent. I didn't call them up monthly to clean, I called them after being dirty for more than a year. But just several hours later, everything was good and new. Shiny 5 stars!
