My wife and I have never used a home cleaning service before, but after having surgery, I haven't been able to help around the house much and we decided to look into hiring a company to clean our home. As someone who has always been raised with a clean house and carries that on in my own home, I was very happy. Kevin, the owner of the company along with his wife Mary, showed up the last hour and walked through the house helping to clean and pointing out things to the crew that needed to be looked at again. When they were completed, Kevin asked us to walk the house with him and make sure everything was completed to our expectations. We definitely were and hired them to clean the house monthly. About a week and 4 or 5 phone calls back and forth later I was told in a conversation that took place today (November 1st) that they couldn't guarantee my apt. on the 23rd because they need to worry about rescheduling their reoccurring customers around Thanksgiving week. Not only are they incredibly disorganized, being that days later I still haven't been scheduled or given a price quote, but they also don't care about you unless you're reoccurring I guess. I only needed an empty house cleaned for renters to view. Should be a pretty easy and straight forward job, but being that it's taking longer to get it scheduled than to clean it, I'm moving on to a different company that treats customers equally.

I too had an unfortunate experience with Jan. I had hired her to do a move out cleaning. The unit she was to clean was approx 500 sq ft. I met her at the unit and let her in. I then ran some errands and came back two hours later thinking she'd be just about done. I walk in and barely anything had been done. She was cleaning out the tub, apparently, but I couldn't even smell the cleaning products (which usually you can, especially in a space that small). I asked her if she thought she'd be done soon, and she said she was just getting started. I then paid her for the two hours and said to text me when she was done and we could square up later.
Maybe like the previous poster, I was too trusting. I didn't receive a text so the next afternoon I text her. She said she was at my apartment cleaning until 4 in the morning. Seven hours of cleaning for a 500 sf apartment? So later that day I had a walkthrough with my landlord and it was the first time seeing the place after Jan cleaned. Yes, the fridge and oven were cleaned and the toilet was mostly cleaned, but the shelves weren't, and there was a layer of something grimy on the hardwood floors. It looked like someone spent an hour and a half, maybe two hours cleaning – definitely not the seven hours she said she did. Even my previous landlord during the walkthrough said I had been ripped off and asked me for her name so she could be sure to stay away. Anyway, I called her and told her I wasn't happy and she said she'd meet me at the place that weekend so I can show her what areas needed to be recleaned. Well, that day she was at another house and was over an hour late in heading in my direction. I waited until I couldn't anymore and then called her and said to forget about the reclean, I couldn't wait. I said I'd be willing to pay for another hour or so more than what I had previously paid, but not the seven additional hours she said she cleaned. She told me to keep the money.

We found Jan Allen on Yelp. We had family coming for a few days and needed the house cleaned better than we were doing. Jan agreed to come on a Saturday morning. Our house is medium size, but there are three bathrooms and lots of stuff to dust. One bathtub and the Master shower needed extra scrubbing. Wow Jan devoted her life to getting us clean! She worked really hard and did an amazing job. She was so friendly and polite, it was a joy having her around. She stopped a few times to chat, but never very long. After working on our house all day we were concerned that the charges would be sky high, but her price at the end was quite reasonable.
